Drilling and Well Intervention Risers
For this service, MCS Kenny utilises its extensive riser engineering analysis capability to determine the required riser top tension and buoyancy requirements to enable safe riser operations for drilling and well intervention. MCS Kenny provides this service to oil companies, drilling contractors, riser suppliers and well intervention contractors. The capability applies to drilling, workover and completion risers.
The key points that define the service are listed as follows:
- Overall concept design and riser configuration layout, including top tension and buoyancy requirements
- Design to API 16Q requirements for drilling risers
- Extreme and fatigue load case evaluation
- Development of operability curves (shut-in and disconnect limits) for drilling risers
- Riser VIV analysis, with strake and fairing design
- Disconnect analysis
- Weak point and DP drift-off analysis
- Total systems modelling including riser, surface components, subsea components, conductor pile and conductor / soil interaction
- Riser recoil analysis
- Integrated riser and mooring system design for drilling vessels (ship-shape and semisubmersible)
- Landing string and coil tubing analysis for well intervention risers
- Application of our in-house developed, widely validated, riser software tools Flexcom and DeepRiser for desktop analysis
- Application of onboard riser management tool Optima, developed jointly by MCS Kenny and Fugro for maximising drilling and well intervention uptime in a safe manner
- Riser installation evaluation
