The MCS Kenny Aberdeen office is embarking on exciting growth plans. With a new delivery management team in place and a fast growing integrity and inspection business along with a drive into traditional subsea engineering we are seeking engineers to help us expand both our core and new business areas.

MCS Kenny is an industry leader in the provision of engineering services to assist operators, drilling contactors and equipment suppliers in analysis, design and operational support for subsea systems and associated equipment and components.
We have a proven track record in the design of riser bases, clamps, hang-off structures, ancillary components such as bend stiffeners and specialist engineered components. Integral to our structural service offering is the production of fabrication drawings, MTOs and manfacturing/testing support.
MCS Kenny has ambitious plans to grow our structural engineering service offering in our established areas of expertise and through development of new service streams. The position of Structural Design Team Leader is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated candidate looking for technical, management and strategic business development career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic development of structural engineering business stream as part of senior management team
  • Strategic business planning
  • Day-to-day operational/P&L responsibility for structural engineering service
  • Recruitment
  • Promotion of MCS Kenny engineering capability to existing and new clients
  • Client account management
  • Tender package preparation
  • Project management, including
    • Monitoring of projects ensuring compliance with engineering applicable standards and MCS Kenny internal QMS procedures
    • Supervision of project teams, delegation of tasks and direction of engineering work
    • Review and approval of designs, specifications and engineering report
  • Partake in engineering secondments to client offices (UK and overseas)
  • Work with and support engineering teams in other MCS Kenny offices
  • Mentoring and development of engineers
  • Presentation at leading technical conferences
  • Periodic reporting to Group Board of Directors and Executive Management Team
  • Expected to develop skills/knowledge and experience in other MCS Kenny core business activities

Minimum Required Competencies and Experience:
  • Proven, relevant structural engineering experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of structural engineering and component design
  • Strong project management, planning and organisational leadership skills. Ability to provide innovative solutions
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Track record of business development
  • Willingness to assume responsibility and seek new opportunities
  • Ability to motivate others

Educational Qualifications
  • Relevant Engineering Degree (MSc)
  • Chartership an advantage

Job Title: Drilling Team Leader
Reporting To: Engineering Manager
Location: Aberdeen

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overall operational responsibility for the MCS Kenny UK drilling team
  • Responsibility for defining, developing, leading and delivering, feasibility and FEED studies in subsea engineering.
  • Work with senior management to develop drilling business. Marketing of drilling engineering expertise through significant client contact with the support of the Business Development functions within MCS Kenny.
  • Responsibility for tender package preparation
  • Project management, including monitoring of projects ensuring compliance with engineering applicable standards and MCS Kenny internal QMS procedures
  • Supervision of project teams, delegation of tasks and direction of engineering work.
  • Work with and support drilling teams in other MCS Kenny offices
  • Assist with resourcing and additional HR activities as and when required

Competencies and Experience:
  • Substantial drilling engineering experience
  • Detailed knowledge of all aspects of drilling systems
  • Drilling / production vessel operational experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Excellent organisational leadership skills with the ability to supervise a small team of engineers.
  • Ability to provide innovative solutions
  • Track record of business development
